      On August 8, reporters learned from the "One-year Anniversary of Pinglu Canal Construction" interview event that the Pinglu Canal, spanning a total length of 134.2 kilometers, is projected to become navigable for ships with a carrying capacity of up to 5,000 tons. Notably, the project adopts advanced construction standards and concepts.

      He Junhui, Director of the Engineering Management Department of Pinglu Canal Group, said that Madao Junction, the first cascade junction of the Pinglu Canal, will accommodate the construction of a two-way ship lock. This project spotlights the construction of the world's largest inland water-saving ship lock. Model verification validates that its valve's opening and closing time is one minute and 30 seconds respectively, with a speed two to three times greater than comparable ship locks domestically and internationally.

      Through the video monitoring system within the intelligent canal system of the Pinglu Canal's construction management platform, staff members can remotely scrutinize engineering vehicles, manage personnel, and monitor environmental conditions. Currently, the specialized informatization design for the Pinglu Canal has reached completion. The construction management system has been put into use. Additionally, the digital twin model, intended for display, has initially taken shape. Moving forward, the group will perpetuate its commitment to enhancing the management and control mechanisms within the intelligent canal system, harnessing the potential of digitalization within project construction. This approach aims to construct China's first canal featuring a full life-cycle digital twin model.
